Katie and Karleigh Open Up About Jonas Brothers Fan Site – J-14 – J
August 14, 2017 - Jonas Brothers
In respect of a 10-year anniversary of a Jonas Brothers’ dermatitis self-titled manuscript (their initial with Hollywood Records), we’re celebrating with a week full of JoBros facilities for a readers.
Anyone who was a fangirl of a Jonas Brothers behind in a day might remember a small website called jonasbrothersfan.com, that was run by dual sisters named Katie and Karleigh Santry. The Jonas-obsessed Pennsylvania locals were a pioneers, if we will, of a Jo Bros fandom – as their site truly acted as a heart for all things Jonas. You see, this was a time before Snapchat and Instagram, so news on your fave stars’ locale wasn’t all that easy to find. So what did they do? They collected each square of information they could find about Nick, Joe and Kevin, and put it out there for fangirls like themselves. J-14 held adult with a sisters to discuss about what it was like using such a renouned fan site as teenagers and low-key being treated as celebs for it.
J-14: How did we learn a Jonas Brothers?
Karleigh: We were on vacation during Disney World, and they had a Radio Disney channel on a TV – and we listened “Year 3000.” Yeah, so after that, we only spent time Googling them.
J-14: Who came adult with a thought of formulating jonasbrothersfan.com?
Karleigh: we had been meditative about a garland of opposite ideas for websites only since my father was a web developer, and we was unequivocally preoccupied by it. So we threw a lot of ideas during him, though once we found a Jonas Brothers, we was like, “This is it! I’m sleepy of acid 10 opposite websites for information. I’m going to hunt for all a information, afterwards I’m going to make it accessible for everybody else.
J-14: Was there ever a time when your relatives were like, “Why are we spending all your time on a Jonas Brothers?”
Katie: My relatives were so supportive. It had like a good brew since my father was a mechanism [guy] and afterwards my mom – she was all about concerts. Even before Jonas Brothers, she like slept outward to get us unison tickets. Both ends covered!
J-14: What was it like being famous during a unison for a initial time after your fan site blew up?
Karleigh: we remember it – since we remember shortly after, a few days later, someone was posting on a forum that we was so meant since we looked during them weird.
Katie: That was a initial time we had an knowledge with haters.
Karleigh: Someone asked like “Can we have a design with you? Can we pointer this?” And we was like, why? we wasn’t perplexing to be mean, though I’m only a fan!
Katie: we would go to a concert, and we would get like 10 boxes of Nerds. Like people would move us things that we had mentioned. we favourite Cinnabons from McDonald’s, and we would get them during a concert! So one day, we was like, “Guys, we like diamonds and cars too!”
J-14: Have we been famous recently?
Katie: So a integrate of months ago, we was during my dentist removing my teeth cleaned. And while my dental hygienist is in my mouth, she goes, “I have to contend something unequivocally weird.” And she was like, “I was so spooky with we and your website. we watched each video uncover we ever posted.” It was so awesome! we now got my phone out and called my sister, called my parents, like, “Guess what only happened?!”
Karleigh: There were people who watched my videos that were during my university – small world, we guess!
J-14: When did your peers and classmates find out about your website and what was it like?
Karleigh: Well, if we’re articulate about when it was indeed happening, that wasn’t as good of an knowledge since people can be mean.
Katie: Basically, we took some of a friends to concerts. we don’t know if we remember a Kevin Jonas bringing coffee thing in Cleveland? we feel like after that, since that video got so large when a Jonas Brothers had posted it, everybody during propagandize knew. And for whatever reason, people weren’t as meant to me. I’m dual years comparison than Karleigh, and we can substantially tell in a videos, I’m a lot some-more outgoing.
Karleigh: we was a Freshman in high school, so we was terrified!
J-14: How did we understanding with a bullies?
Karleigh: For a initial dual weeks of school, we was bullied so bad that we came home great each day. Eventually, after my initial dual weeks of high school, we had to be home schooled.
Katie: For me, we didn’t unequivocally caring – though we were roving so much. At that indicate when we were during a peak, we were in New York like a integrate times a month, and we were going to California. We went to a Bahamas. Like we were roving so many that we literally couldn’t [go to school].
J-14: How did we keep adult with using a website when a Jonas Brothers got so big?
Katie: We had partnered with another company, and they helped.
Karleigh: People would request and be means to post on a website, and we’d have to approve everything. And obviously, we were posting as well.
J-14: Was there any inside dip that we knew and had to keep quiet?
Karleigh: we theory we kind of knew unequivocally singular things. Mr. Jonas – he would let us mangle some news.
Katie: We were a initial ones to post when Joe Jonas had depressed [at a 2007 American Music Awards] when he was all bloody in that white suit. [Their dad] gave us that design and let us mangle that. At that point, a fan site was removing some-more visitors than their central website. It was nuts.
J-14: What was it like assembly a Jonas Brothers for a initial time?
Karleigh: Obviously, we had collected adult all my J-14‘s so we could have them pointer like 20 things. The whole time, they were only signing and signing.
Katie: We had left to a giveaway mall show, and we had entered to win a accommodate and hail – and we won! My mom was like, “Both of these girls are going!”
Karleigh: At that point, if Katie had left and not me – generally deliberation we was a fan during a time – UGH!
Katie: There were tears. Then a guys were like, “OK, we can both go.” So we travel in with all these magazines, and my mom goes – this was literally on camera – she says to, we think, Joe Jonas, “We picked adult these magazines on a potty break!” We were like, “What were we thinking?! Why would we contend that?!”
Karleigh: Like, “THAT’S THE JONAS BROTHERS.” we was 14.
Katie: For your mom to tell a Jonas Brothers we were on a “potty break” – it’s only a many ungainly thing.
J-14: What do we guys cruise is opposite about a Jonas Brothers fandom compared to others, generally deliberation Snapchat and Instagram wasn’t around during a time?
Karleigh: There wasn’t as many amicable media. It was us perplexing to get orderly as a fandom to be means to grasp some of a things that we were means to grasp as a fandom. It was a lot some-more difficult! There weren’t a million amicable media outlets for us to come adult with these campaigns to foster them. we cruise that’s where jonasbrothersfans.com became such a good thing. You don’t unequivocally see as many fan sites anymore. It’s mostly only amicable media accounts. You were fighting a power! You wanted to get them on a radio.
Katie: we cruise they did such a good pursuit being so connected with their fans. They always had meet-and-greets, and they were free!
J-14: Fast-forward to 2013 – what was it like anticipating out a Jonas Brothers pennyless up?
Katie: So we was a radio DJ and afterwards did a amicable media, and we did my luminary daily dirt. So we was still vital in that world.
Karleigh: we was unequivocally into propagandize during that point, so we was unequivocally focused only with that. we didn’t unequivocally have time to be a fangirl, though we was hurt. we was harm genuine bad when it happened. we was harm even some-more so when Nick Jonas cut off his hair. I’m still affected. I’m going to be so unhappy if he keeps it brief forever.
J-14: Where do we dual cruise yourselves as fans now?
Karleigh: we keep an eye on them, like prepared to pounce if a Jonas Brothers come back. I’m a die tough child rope fangirl. we need a child rope to follow, so we need them together. And we reason onto that hope.
Katie: we still follow them all on amicable media – I’m also single. I’m only throwing it out there.
Karleigh: we mean, I’m singular too! So if any of them are single… I’m available!
Katie: Bring us full circle, 10 years later!
We’ll be posting disdainful JoBros posters, articles, and some-more for Jonas Brothers Week over on a J-14+ Facebook group. Join for a protected space to obsess over celebs a same approach we did when we were 14.
